Visualization: Seeing Through The Eyes Of Two Women Artists
Two women artists, whose studios are separated only by a single wall, might as well be worlds apart when it comes to creating art. Visualization: Seeing Through The Eyes of Two Women Artists is an exhibition of all new work by Jennifer Hirshfield and C.K.Itamura that explores differences between and commonalities of their approaches to creating art and the materials they use to manifest their visions. Visualization: Seeing Through The Eyes of Two Women Artists opens at Gallery 300 in Santa Rosa, California on March 26, 2016 and runs thru April 24, 2016.
On one side of the wall Jennifer Hirshfield, a prolific painter, creates figurative work, spontaneously without a model that explodes off the canvas in a profusion of psychedelic colors inspired by fantastical and realistic shapes and forms of women. Through her two- and three-dimensional work, she explores mysterious relationships between women and the animal within.
On the other side of the wall, C.K.Itamura, a multi-disciplinary artist, begins with quiet, private observations and philosophies, and morphs them into text based mixed-media works and conceptual installations. Often eschewing color in deference to focusing on messages contained within her work, her prevailing palette consists of black, white and clear materials.
The differences between these two artists is evident and yet Visualization: Seeing Through The Eyes of Two Women Artists manages to create an intersection where outward visuals and introspective messages meet at a wall that we come to realize, does not separate and divide us, but rather the wall between us is visualized here as a common object of support that we share.
