TOOLS OF THE TRADE: a. b. c. d. & e.
We’ve answered a lot of questions about tools. Now it’s your turn — what do you think each of these tools is called? Bonus points if you provide a description of what you think each is used for.
If you don’t have a clue what these things are, use your imagination!

a. mallet to even out type on the d. composing tray.
b. quoin key used to lock up/secure your type and e. furniture in a chase
e. tympan paper is an oiled sheet of manila paper secured to the face of a platen on a letterpress printing machine
I did get some help from my husband whow runs the machines in our shop
A. Hmm.. that little hammer helps chisel out the lino-cut? B. That twisty thing is a screw driver of some sort, or a wrench?? C is a lino-cut? lino-print thingy D is a tray for ink and E are the rubber stamp letters~ haha, I tried!! All for print-making:) xx
A. Old dfn=>Judge’s knock. New dfn=>Now it’s used as a phone ringtone. (first taped, then marketed via internet)
B. Old dfn=>Sledge hammer head. New dfn=>Retro paper weight.
C. Old dfn=>Picture frame. New dfn=>Used as a magical transporter. You put the pictures of the people whom you forgive and let go. Can be used for unlimited times if necessary.
D. Old dfn=>Metal tool tray. New dfn=>Attach four wheels and it’s a skate board for pets (only for those who are volunteering, not to be used if the pet is not willing)
E. Old dfn=>Wooden blocks. New dfn=>Room to room home paralel phone. Tie a very long cotton rope(enough to reach in between the two rooms) to two wooden blocks. Then speak to the block!
These are like rubber stamps, but wood blocks…grrr I forget what they’re called…am I on the right track? BTW I love this pic!
