Peek #48 thru #55
A series of four 4-color illustrations have been drawn and are being created as linocut prints to accompany a short poem, Art of the Apple which is being typeset by hand and letterpress printed directly on the illustrations.
The “Apple” print, which is the third of the four illustrations, is in process now that the first, second and fourth prints have been printed. Made by carving three linoleum blocks, using a brayer to ink them and then pulling each print through and un-inked Vandercook press, the “SunshineApple”, “EggBlue” and “SpringGreen” layers have been completed.
Next, we move on to two more linoleum blocks, for the “Blush” and “”Ash” layers of this illustration, and then to printing the third line of the “Apple” poem on the print.
Stay tuned for upcoming peeks, which will include glimpses of the next steps in this process and watch our progress as we drink some tea and continue working on Art of the Apple.
