Inspiration #120 comes from being careful not to underestimate potential and from making an effort to understand origins. . . . . . © 2012 Peach Farm Studio. All rights reserved. Thank you Trees of Antiquity.
I am very keen on heritage fruit and vegetables – I have such clear memories of my dad and a friend discussing which peach trees they should grow… I only wish I could remember what varieties they chose – one was a white peach which was very hardy and a good flavour but a poor cropper, the other was a golden peach which was very abundant but hadn’t got that lovely perfumey taste…
Thank you for sharing your Peachy memories!
All the best, juiciest, tastiest peaches are the ones that are picked then eaten immediately on the spot. They are too delicate to ship, so most folks out there have never had a chance to taste the best ones on earth, unless they have visited a peach farm during the picking time of year.
I don’t think we have peach farms over here in England – peach trees are hardy I know but we just don’t have the weather for the fruit – not enough predictable sun maybe!
Ah, but your weather is wonderful for other wild things, mushrooms for instance. Yum!
I use to make some killer chunky apple sauce and apple butter with our red gravensteins… never realized the little guys were sterile.
Love chunks and apple butter too. Yum! Gravensteins do best when surrounded by a bunch of friends — sort of like bloggers.
So very true!
A very easy way to make everything a little better for everyone including ourselves.
Yup I totally agree!
